Women who help Women

Women are super, no matter which way you look at it, but every now and then we need some support, some help and some time to be kind to ourselves. This page is full of lovely local women who can help women in all forms!

Nestled in 7 acres of private woodland, hidden in the beautiful Monmouthshire countryside you will discover KIN Nature Kindergarten. A new pre school setting for 3 and 4 year olds, it is the first outdoor setting in Monmouthshire and one of the first in Wales.

KIN (Kids in Nature) was founded in 2019 by Sal Preston a Primary School Teacher and Forest School Leader with over 14 years experience of working with children in both school and nursery settings. Sal’s inspiration for the Kindergarten came from a study visit to Norway in 2011 where, along with other Early Years Educators she visited the Natur Barnehage or Nature Kindergartens where children as young as 2 years old spend 80% of their day outside all year round.

Sal is passionate about giving children the unhurried childhood they deserve and protecting what she refers to as ‘the nature of childhood’ – exploring wondering, and experimenting. She believes that it is vital that young children have space and time to connect with the people and world around them in order for them to make sense of it and ultimately want to protect it.

The Kindergarten offers an enchanting setting rich in natural, open – ended resources chosen carefully to stimulate your child’s curiosity and imagination.

The child’s voice lies at the heart of our practice. We value the questions and theories presented by the children and use these as our inspiration for learning. Our approach is to facilitate learning in the moment to make it as real and meaningful for your child as possible.

The Kindergarten is due to open later this Spring. If you would like to find out more please visit: www.kinnaturekindergarten.co.uk where you can sign up to hear about our open days and enrolment.

South Wales Psychotherapy and Coaching

Need to talk?

Is there an issue in your life that’s bothering you? Would you like some help to tackle it?
I’m a psychoanalytic psychotherapist, based in South East Wales south of Abergavenny on the A4042.

Psychotherapy is a bit like counselling. It’s a powerful and effective way to help you make sense of all sorts of issues – from depression to bereavement, from identity issues to stress at work.

Some people ask how psychotherapy links up with mindfulness. Mindfulness can work really well for many people. For others, the exercises can feel difficult, awkward or even overwhelming. If this sounds familiar, then psychotherapy might be able to help you feel more comfortable being in the present moment.

You can try my services risk-free: the first session is without charge. You then decide if you’d like to carry on.

I work in English, but also speak French and Spanish.

The Abergavenny Baker/ The Physician’s Kitchen

Are you are taking medication for chronic, persistent pain? Are you sick of the side effects or frustrated that they don’t seem to work any more? Are you confused that you have pain but the doctors can’t really get to the bottom of why it’s hurting?

Research from around the world has proven that simply learning about the new science of chronic pain is one of the most powerful and important things that you can do to improve your pain.

I qualified as a doctor in 1992 and have worked as a GP in and around Abergavenny for the last 18 years. In 2015 I opened the Abergavenny Baker School of Artisan Breads where we eat, drink, chat and bake together in small groups. It’s relaxed, informal and very enjoyable.

The Physician’s Kitchen offers a similar experience, but the emphasis is on learning about your pain. I use my knowledge and experience to explain the nerve pathways and risk factors for developing chronic pain and the skills and practices that you can use to feel less pain and enjoy life more.

You will learn about:

  • The nerve pathways in pain and what affects them
  • Central Sensitisation
  • Pain Relief medication
  • Risk factors for developing chronic pain
  • The things you can do to reduce your pain

Feedback from the last class “It’s made a MASSIVE difference… I just keep on going, but now I know its SAFE to do that and I won’t make things worse… it’s stopped me thinking about my pain all the time… I’m not so worried about it so I can do my normal stuff…”

Having known what it is to feel stressed, ill and powerless, I’m passionate about helping other women to create a more positive, uplifting and fulfilling life experience.

I love sharing the tools that I have discovered on my own well-being journey, and holding a space where others can re-member their unique gifts and the things that feed their inner being and bring them joy. It’s so wonderful to see people realising that these things were never lost, they were just hidden for a while, buried under all the ‘stuff’ that society persuades us we should carry / take on. The thing is, most of it isn’t our stuff.

Our pain and disease serve a purpose, because they alert us to our inner knowing that we’re carrying this excess baggage. Our feelings actually hold the wisdom which can teach us which bits to let go, and which bits are truly ours. Through this we can also learn how to best step into these with power and grace.

This journey is unique for each person and so what I offer is tailor-made to the individual and their situation. We explore ways of re-connecting with the Nature around us, and our own inner Nature, in order to create a life of balance, harmony and well-being.
